Why Telehealth?

When we see you in your home—or in the places that make you feel most like yourself—it’s an invitation to show up authentically.

Inner Lakes founder Emily Oliver, LCSW is from the rural Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. When she launched her own practice, she had a vision of making truly affirming and high quality therapy accessible to everyone. Research shows that therapy conducted via telehealth with a clinician you feel safe with is just as effective as in-person therapy, and it can be a great option for those who feel most comfortable in their own home as they really dig deep on issues surrounding identity, trauma, and more.

For some, telehealth therapy means surrounding sessions with familiar comforts, like snuggling your cat, but it can also offer the assurance that you don’t need to drive anywhere, or the knowledge that if you have a tough session, you can breathe deep on the back porch or jump in the shower after. Having these supports makes doing the vulnerable work of therapy just a little bit easier, and that is what we are all about.

Paying for Therapy

Therapy for all is one of our key values. We utilize a three-tier approach so we can offer the most accessible services possible. Our three tiers are organized by affordability, insurance, and clinician identity, experience, or specialization.

It’s important for you to feel safe with your therapist.

All Inner Lakes Therapists are LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC allies, and neurodivergence affirming, if not members of these groups ourselves. We all have strong values around social justice, cultural competence, and providing therapy that is empowering and de-stigmatizing. We are body-positive, sex-positive, kink-affirming, and non-judgmental.
