Emily Oliver, LCSW, Practice Owner (she/her)
Emily is accepting new clients for EMDR Intensives and ADHD/Autism diagnostic evaluations.
Selecting a therapist is hard! It can be so intimidating to find the right fit. For me, it’s so important that I create a space that is warm, affirming, and invites vulnerability. I truly believe that you are the expert of your experience. My approach is empowering and person-centered, and I would describe my presence as authentic and grounding. Sessions often include laughter, stimming, creativity, letting tears flow, swearing, SO MUCH sarcasm, and really getting to the root of things.
I specialize in the treatment of complex trauma, especially for neurodivergent clients. As a neurodivergent therapist and trauma survivor, I love connecting with my clients in a way that allows them to feel seen, maybe for the first time ever, and creating a feeling of safety around that. I love being the person who can help you realize you are valuable, and that your authentic self (layered under safety mechanisms and masks) is amazing and deserves to be out in the world.
I am trained in EMDR, Brainspotting, Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD, and MBSR, and I have significant experience with somatic psychotherapy, CBT, and polyvagal theory. I always practice through a trauma-informed lens, and inform my practice through ongoing continuing education and individual work around cultural competency, systemic injustice, and personal privilege.
My work is informed by cutting-edge research and techniques that reflect the amazing progress we have made in learning about how the brain and body respond to trauma, and how we can embrace the potential of neuroplasticity to harness our inherent capacity for recovery and growth.
In addition to my work in private practice and my lived experiences, I gained invaluable experience in the treatment of trauma through the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, the Trauma Institute, and various amazing mentors. I am also the Founder and Director of a nationwide non-profit addressing issues of systemic injustice within the mental health system, and I am working to build a group practice that offers a truly warm and safe place for clients to receive treatment, and for therapists to have an awesome place to work, both using a social-justice-informed lens.
